|Iconien||f1ash||Action/Arcade||Browser||Click here to play|
Iconien is an alright action game made by Japanese developer f1ash. Your objective is to protect the eye in the middle of the screen from enemies which explode on contact.
Destroy circles, bugs and rockets by drawing a square around them, or drag any object around by left clicking. You will experience a shot delay after each time a box is drawn, and having the eye inside the square damages it as well.
Collect power-ups by dragging and dropping them onto the eye. The easy and normal mode ends when the tank is beaten.
|Icy Tower ||Free Lunch Design||Action/Arcade||5.26 MB||Click here to download|
Icy Tower is another excellent release from Free Lunch Design. The story is about a homeboy named Harold, who discovers a mysterious tower that he feels strangely compelled to climb all the way to the top by jumping from platform to platform.
Movements are limited to left, right or jump. Execute a higher jump by running in one direction to gain momentum before pressing space. Chain double or triple jumps to activate combo mode and multiply your score. The screen will move upward constantly, and the game ends if you run out of platforms to land on.
The game can be customized by downloading additional characters to use from the site. Replays can be saved and shared among other players. Simple in design but extremely difficult to master.
|Icycle||Damp Gnat||Action/Arcade||Browser||Click here to play|
The story of Icycle is set in a time when the entire world has been frozen solid, save for a man who was cryogenically preserved together with a bicycle and an unknown companion that flees the scene just before the game starts. The protagonist can only cycle forward and never move back, but he is still able to control his travel speed and time his jumps to avoid some of the dangers he will face during his adventure.
There are eight stages to play in total, each featuring three or four screens of landscape to traverse.
|Idolmaster Minigame Collection, The|
(mature content, nudity)
|SYGNAS||Action/Arcade||Browser||Click here to play|
The Idolmaster Minigame Collection, also known as AiMasu Champ, is a decent WarioWare clone with a raunchy twist. Play games ranging from strip poker but using Janken rules (rock paper scissors), a vertical shooter stage, classic handheld level, a simplified version of Mr. Driller, Minesweeper, Mahjong and many more. A complete list can be found on the site.
There's a trial version playable through your browser, but unfortunately carries a limitation of three minigames. One requires the player to arrange cards with pictures of girls in their swimwear, in the order of the largest cup to the smallest starting with the left position.
|Ifrit||ZAC SOFT||Shoot 'em up||0.93 MB||Click here to download|
Ifrit is a horizontal shooter developed by ZAC SOFT, music contributor for Guardian of Paradise. Your mission involves flying an outdated ship in an attempt to repel the alien invasion.
The obsolete craft only has a beam outfitted with no room for additional equipment, hence the absence of power-ups or smartbombs. Press the Z key to shoot and C to pause.
Each level ends with a boss encounter and you can continue from any stage previously attempted.
|Eikyuu Loop||Shoot 'em up||16.6 MB||Click here to download|
CloverWing and Iincho are two excellent shooters from Eikyuu Loop featuring a dash system not unlike Suguri. The objective of the game is to earn enough points and meet the target in order to progress from one level to the next.
Points are earned by taking out entire waves of enemies, then collecting the items that they leave behind. Press space to shoot, and tapping the Z key while holding down a directional button will cause your character to dash in that direction. She will be invulnerable for a short period right before stopping. It's a skill that will be used often as the protagonist is extremely slow when it comes to moving around. Some bullet formations can only be dodged by dashing past them.
|Iji ||Daniel Remar||Action/Arcade||28.0 MB||Click here to download|
Iji is an action platformer which took Daniel Remar four years to make, where players assume control of the titular character as she learns how to cope with waking up to find her world taken over by an alien race. Guided by her brother who speaks through the research complex's loudspeaker system, she has to find a way to convince an alien leader to retreat and save humankind from total annihilation.
Iji's skills can be upgraded by acquiring nanofields left behind by the aliens, then spent on cyborg stations to increase any of her seven basic stats. You can only acquire a maximum of five nano points per sector, and one nano point is awarded whenever your nano gauge reaches its limit.
Progress is saved automatically after the completion of each Sector, but not before boss fights. This is also one of the very few games which offers multiple storyline paths in relation to how much the player resorts to violence when dealing with the adversities they face. There are ten sectors to play through in total, not inclusive of the secret levels which can only be unlocked once certain requirements have been fulfilled.
|Ikachan ||Pixel||Action/Arcade||0.15 MB||Click here to download|
Ikachan has been largely ignored by many due to the Japanese text, but finally a proper English version was recently released and made available for download. This translation is much better than the one that has been making it's rounds, with most of the storyline kept intact and understandable.
The game itself is a nice little underwater exploration number that won't take more than an hour or two to solve. Fans of Cave Story certainly wouldn't be disappointed with one of Pixel's earlier work.
|Ikaria||hiz||Shoot 'em up||Browser||Click here to play|
Ikaria is a vertical shooter by HIZ with an interesting gameplay element. Red bullets will damage your ship, though white and blue ones are converted into lasers. Score is doubled when an enemy is destroyed using lasers instead of conventional bullets.
Four short stages only, with the obligatory boss battles at the end of each.
|Ikaros Tonight||Dot Zo Games||Platformer||2.66 MB||Click here to download|
Ikaros Tonight is a 2D platformer created by Dot Zo Games, developer of Journey to the Center of the Earth and the Xbox Live Indie Games release Ninja Bros. The objective of the game is to collect keys that'll unlock the exit door in each area, advancing from one stage to another until you've beaten every single level or run out of lives. Yellow orbs can be used to boost you upwards, and tapping the left or right cursor key rapidly while Icarus is still in the air causes him to float back down to the ground at a slower speed.
A large gem that rewards the player with an extra life will only appear after you've collected three small gems in a row, and a reset key (tab) is included for situations where you're stuck on a platform with no way to reach the exit. A password is provided to the player for every ten levels completed, and you can input this code to skip levels quickly or resume playing from a certain point the next time you run the game.
