W*H*B
Bob SmithPuzzle0.02 MBClick here to download

W*H*B is a puzzler that resembles Damien Clarke's Bloxorz in many ways, although this version features configurable button settings, great chiptunes and lovely retro graphics that the original had never offered. The game also doesn't punish you as severely for making mistakes, with the screen flashing red if your next move could cause the block to fall off the map.

An emulator may be required to play W*H*B, assuming that you don't own a working ZX Spectrum anywhere around the house. ZX Spin is a free emulator that works well enough with the game. It is also recommended that players reconfigure the key settings to their preferences before starting the first puzzle, since buttons are placed too far away in the default configuration for one hand to handle.

There are forty levels to play in total.

Waker is a puzzle platformer in which the player has to build their own platforms to reach the goal. To create a new path, you must first reach a magical orb and grab it with the action button. You can then control how the platform is to be drawn by moving the creature around the screen.

There are three worlds to explore in total, each with their own subset of levels.

Walker and Silhouette
- Windows, Mac, Linux
C.E.J. PacianAdventure1.60 MBClick here to download

Walker and Silhouette is a short interactive fiction game about a pair of detectives named Nate and Ivy, working together to solve a case for the Oldchester Criminal Investigation Department. The interface is an easy one to use, and all a user has to do is to click on a highlighted keyword to investigate further or progress the story forward. Occasionally certain words like leave, think and help have to be typed in, but these situations rarely occur and wouldn't cause too much of an inconvenience to any player.

The writing on display is good, the storyline is intriguing, and there are some clever puzzles designed just for the single keyword system. A windows executable is included with the Windows version, while Linux and Mac users can play the game by using a TADS interpreter to run the TADS 3 game file.

Walkie Tonky is a physics-based action game where players get to guide a giant robot around a city and engage in the act of smashing buildings, vehicles, and all manners of defensive measures that the Earthlings have set upon you. There is only one level to play, but upon finishing it a separate challenge mode will be unlocked.

Note that no checkpoint system has been implemented in this build, and players are expected to retry the same stage from its starting point whenever they fail to beat the final boss.

War and Peace
Stephane BuraStrategy2.31 MBClick here to download

War and Peace is a one-button remake of the classic strategy game Civilization, created by Stéphane Bura as a submission for the Gamma 4 game showcase competition. The technology tree which was the highlight of the original series has been distilled down to just two branches of research, and your task is basically to choose whether to dedicate all of your resources into developing war machines or encourage the cultivation of technology advancements.

The implementation might feel simplistic at times, but there is definitely some real potential in this project if the developer decides to take it further.

Warlock Bentspine
Lazrool, LazraelPlatformer8.12 MBClick here to download

Warlock Bentspine is a 2D platformer that features four stages to beat, each with a set of randomized stages for you to play in whichever direction you decide to tackle a level. At the start of a game you're presented with exits on the left and right side of the room, and if you keep going in one direction you'll face the boss of that stage in the tenth room.

Similar to the Megaman series, players will gain a new weapon to use once they've beaten a stage boss. Besides being able to shoot horizontally and vertically, Mr. Bentspine can also execute double jumps and dash for a short distance.

One thing to note is that the game doesn't automatically save your progress, although a three-digit combination code will be shown at the stage selection menu. This code can be used at the title screen to restore a game from a certain state.
