|Shift 4 ||Antony Lavelle||Platformer||Browser||Click here to play|
In Shift 4 you're in control of an astronaut whose ship was attacked by a giant squid, forcing our protagonist to make an emergency landing at the closest planet. Waking up to find your family members missing, you decide to explore a deserted facility nearby and search for clues about their current whereabouts.
This particular episode is a little more challenging than previous releases, since players are required to switch between two or more characters often to solve some of the harder puzzles. New gameplay elements such as gravity and contact-sensitive switches are introduced at a steady pace, which is a boon considering that the map is a lot less linear and there is a bit of backtracking to do as well.

Fedora Spade Episode 2 introduces a larger cast of characters to converse with and interrogate, as you attempt to solve the latest crime mystery with your sleuthing skills and persuasive charms. You're not alone in this adventure though, as a partner will tag along to provide even more humor if not some assistance.

|Sword of Fargoal ||Jeff McCord, Paul Pridham, Elias Pschernig||RPG||0.75 MB||Click here to download|
Sword of Fargoal is a roguelike game, with the player controlling an adventurous warrior attempting to reclaim the titular sword from the depths of a monster-infested, randomly-generated dungeon. The sword is placed randomly somewhere between the fifteenth and twentieth dungeon level.
|Icy Tower ||Free Lunch Design||Action/Arcade||5.26 MB||Click here to download|
Icy Tower is another excellent release from Free Lunch Design. The story is about a homeboy named Harold, who discovers a mysterious tower that he feels strangely compelled to climb all the way to the top by jumping from platform to platform.
Movements are limited to left, right or jump. Execute a higher jump by running in one direction to gain momentum before pressing space. Chain double or triple jumps to activate combo mode and multiply your score. The screen will move upward constantly, and the game ends if you run out of platforms to land on.
The game can be customized by downloading additional characters to use from the site. Replays can be saved and shared among other players. Simple in design but extremely difficult to master.
|String Theory ||Dillon Cower||Action/Arcade||3.31 MB||Click here to download|
Another Experimental Gameplay Competition entry, String Theory is an action game in which you attempt to guide a spider-like entity around vector-shaped landscapes. The adventure ends if you allow the creature to exit past the edge of the screen.
Four of your limbs can be extended by using the numeric keypad, though elasticity is lost quickly and they soon detach from ceilings or walls in a matter of seconds if left unattended for long.
The scrolling speed and screen size can be altered by editing a text file.
|Super Crate Box |
- Windows, Mac
|Vlambeer, Jan Willem Nijman, Rami Ismail||Action/Arcade||20.4 MB||Click here to download|
Super Crate Box is a single-player arcade game in which you score points by collecting crates. These crates give you a random weapon every time, meaning that you won't be stuck with your favorite weapon for long if you intend to climb up the online high score tables. A random character is also generated for you every time you play, and more weapons and gameplay modes are unlocked for you automatically as you gather more crates during your playthrough.
|Hero Core ||Daniel Remar||Action/Arcade||2.41 MB||Click here to download|
Hero Core is a Metroid-style action shooter that tells the story of Flip Hero, on a mission to destroy his nemesis Cruiser Tetron for the final time. But before taking on the machine warlord in his hideout, there's a bit of exploring to do since every weapon, item or suit upgrade found will actually assist you in completing the main and secondary mission objectives.
The first few rooms act as a tutorial that teaches new players about their suit and weapon controls, the autofire feature, progress saving, and the teleportation ability that warps your hero to a save point previously visited. Because of its non-linearity, you can choose to fight the end boss whenever you want, although players are advised to power-up both their main weapon and suit by at least a couple of levels before tackling that last challenge.
It takes about two hours to explore the entire map in the main story campaign, but there are also other bonus modes to try out, while the hard difficulty offers a completely different gameworld to explore.
|Within a Deep Forest ||Nifflas||Platformer||20.1 MB||Click here to download|
Within a Deep Forest is a rather difficult platformer by Nicklas, not helped by the unfamiliar character controls. Most times you control a bouncing ball made out of different materials, always in perpetual motion throughout the entire game.
Starting off with the basic blue, your jump height will change depending on the type of ball in use. A comprehensive tutorial provides all the information you need, while solutions to most puzzles can be found in the forums. Being likened to the legendary Seiklus is the highest praise that anyone can give. Press F1 to play in full screen mode.
|Nest of Moai 2 ||SKT||Action/Arcade||Browser||Click here to play|
Nest of Moai 2 is basically an entire game based on the objective of touching these strange structures with your mouse cursor.
Move your cursor over as many statues as possible in thirty seconds, although these tiny little guys will attempt to make matters difficult by popping up in odd places. Large statues require some rubbing, but they do contribute quite a bit to your score.
Use the left mouse button or scroll wheel to zoom in for more hidden statues.
|Hoshi Saga ||Yoshio Ishii, Nekogames||Puzzle||Browser||Click here to play|
Hoshi Saga is a brain teaser consisting of thirty-six stages in total, each with the same objective of discovering stars which are cleverly hidden by the author. No instructions are given, and players are expected to solve puzzles by experimenting with the elements found in every stage.
