Masq is an interactive novel which resembles Facade, but minus the boring guesswork as every dialogue option and actions are laid out for you to choose from in each scene. The story is much more interesting as well, and players can expect to discover a new scenario or ending when a different path is taken.
|Mental Repairs, Inc.||Renzo Thönen||Adventure||64.4 MB||Click here to download|
Mental Repairs, Inc. is a point and click adventure game in the style of classic LucasArts releases, created by Renzo Thönen with the help of the Wintermute Engine. You play the role of a machine psychiatrist named Henrik Liaw, who received an innocent emergency call during the night from a large corporation requesting for repair works to be done on their main computer with haste. Nothing ever goes smoothly in an adventure game, and once you're inside the building you quickly find yourself trapped with no clear exit from your little predicament in sight.
As a machine psychiatrist, you repair defective electronic devices by entering the machine's psyche and treating them from the inside. This involves using a wrench-like tool called the Katharsis Interface to establish a mental connection with the machine's articificial brain, then finding a solution to the problem before returning to reality once you've managed to sort things out.
There are less than twenty rooms to explore in total, and the game probably won't take longer than an afternoon to complete at most. You can also highlight interactive spots and exits by pressing the space key or clicking on the green magnifying glass icon on screen.
|Midwinter Rites||Mattias Gustavsson||Adventure||0.23 MB||Click here to download|
Midwinter Rites is an incomplete interactive fiction adventure made to mimic the look of a Commodore 64 release. There are few commands to use but important objects and characters are always highlighted.
|Mind's Eye||ProgZmax, Shane Stevens||Adventure||12.5 MB||Click here to download|
Mind's Eye is an adventure game by ProgZmax, one of the best sprite designers in the AGS scene. The setting of the story is rather dark, but fans of Yahtzee's 1213 series will feel right at home. You assume the role of Noah, a sick amnesiac seeking escape from an asylum.
There's one or two arcade sequences which shouldn't trouble most players. Rather short in length, unfortunately.
|Orchard-L, RPGCreations||Adventure||3.14 MB||Click here to download|
In Missing, you play the role of an ex-cop in search of his missing wife and child with only a handful of clues as leads. Most players will struggle with the controls at first but persistence is rewarded with one of the best stories this year. It's important to note that save games are only allowed in your room and nowhere else.
Tension builds up rather quickly after the protagonist settles into bed for the first night. There's a mystery to solve and a few twists in the story that will keep you playing right till the end. Full marks for one of the best games of it's kind.
Note: Try setting your monitor refresh rate to 60 Hertz if the game doesn't display correctly the first time.
