Syunsatu Sare DoShoot 'em up24.1 MBClick here to download

Banshiryuu is an upcoming Comiket release from Syunsatu Sare Do, featuring three levels packed with enemies, bullets and the obligatory boss battles. Four difficulty settings are presented to the player before the character selection menu is shown, with the easiest option located on the top left of the screen. The girl with a kimono has a primary weapon which practically obliterates most bosses at quick speed, and is perhaps the best choice for beginners seeking to play longer than a couple of minutes.

Hold the Z key to shoot, and press the X key to launch a bomb. Hold the shoot button and left shift key together to use your secondary attack option.

Barfer Sickmess is a Christmas-themed horizontal shooter by Zapper that feels more like a shmup from Japan thanks to it's difficulty and bullet pattern similarities.

The sprites are pretty bland but gameplay is fun enough for most players to ignore this minor fault. Use the shift key to shoot or press the control key to activate your special weapon, but only if you have some beer in your belly after drinking a few.

Some enemies will leave behind alphabets, which can be collected to form the word Christmas for an extra life.

Barfer Sickmess Online is an updated version of the Christmas-themed horizontal shooter by Zapper that feels more like a shmup from Japan thanks to it's difficulty and bullet pattern similarities.

A major change introduced in this release is the online cooperative mode. To initiate a game, it's as simple as selecting online mode, typing in a name and choosing connect. You can even chat by pressing T followed by your message, then enter.

Controls are mapped differently depending on whether you're using Santa or Saint Nick. For Saint Nick, hold the shift key to shoot (F for Santa) or press the control key (G for Santa) to activate your special weapon, but only if you have some beer in your belly after drinking a few. Move Santa around by using the W, A, S and D keys.

Some enemies will leave behind alphabets, which can be collected to form the word Christmas for an extra life. Other new features include unlockable secrets and a harder survival mode.

Beast Invaders 2 is a remake of an old Space Invaders hack by Jeff Minter for the Atari 2600. Only one of your shots can remain on the screen at any time, though enemy projectiles are not restricted in such manner.

The aim of the game is basically to earn a decent high score by shooting at enemies and picking up coins or plates of curry. Fans of classic shooters will want this in their collection.

Beluga Mk II
T. MatsushimaShoot 'em up0.05 MBClick here to download

Beluga Mk II is a brilliant throwback to a simpler era, when nobody cared that playing games and having seizures were synonyms. With a splash screen that proudly advertises 'Four Colors System' and '8-bit Color Computer' in red, blue, and yellow, you know you've got a winner.

The list of things you can do in this game is simply huge, and translating all of the instructions out would be crazy. Generally speaking, though, pretty much everything is controlled by the 'z' key, with your attack changing based on where you are, what button you are pushing, and what direction you are moving. For example, pressing down while on the ground and firing will launch some mortar like bombs, holding the fire button before releasing while in the air produces a block-like returning weapon. - oranda

Bit Fortress
DaviowareShoot 'em up4.01 MBClick here to download

Bit Fortress is a vertical shooter created by Davioware in under eight hours, featuring epileptic-inducing graphics and a catchy background tune. There is only one level to play in this build, but it comes complete with a boss battle at the end and will loop from the beginning once you've managed to beat the game.

Developed using the Construct game creation engine, so you might need to update your operating system with the latest version of DirectX to get it working. You can quit the game at any time by pressing the left Alt and F4 function key.
