LikuShoot 'em up0.22 MBClick here to download

Light-Z is another decent shooter developed by Liku. Although it shares the same name as it's flash cousin, this effort does feature 2D sprites, more detail and longer gameplay.

Gain experience by destroying enemy ships to upgrade the special attack. Use the C key to choose the active secondary weapon, and hold the X key to reduce your ship's movement speed. Scratch enemy bullets to retaliate with double the firepower.

lockOn
Jph WacheskiShoot 'em up3.57 MBClick here to download

lockOn is another release by Jph Wacheski of Iteration Games that can be described as shooter with weird psychedelic effects. Guide your ship around using the arrow keys and shoot at enemies with the G key. Shot aiming is automatic unless you decide to target the nearest hostile unit by pressing the F key.

A forward gun can be fired but the projectile's movement is decided by your own speed velocity and current travel direction. There are collectible power-ups which increases your weapon strength but whenever your ship takes damage it weakens by one level. Enemy ships which have been destroyed will turn into blinking objects that you have to pick up. If you leave them around for too long, they will respawn into new ships.

Loveless
MonokeyShoot 'em up46.8 MBClick here to download
(external link)

Loveless is a vertically scrolling shooter by Monokey, creator of Force Majeure and Bollen. Your ship is equipped with a vulcan cannon, warp speed module, and a plasma shield-system. Hold the Z key to use the vulcan cannon. As default you will only be able to fire three bullets at once. Once you get a power-up sphere you will be able to fire additional bullets.

Each time you get hit by enemy bullet you will lose one level. The plasma shield can be used to nullify enemy bullets. When the X key is pressed, the shield will be activated for a fraction of a second. In this time any enemy bullet that touches the shield will be destroyed and additional points will be added to the score. The shield will drain four bars from the power gauge. The power gauge refills over time and when shooting down enemy aircraft.

The last feature of the child of light is the warp speed module. Simply press the C key to engage warp speed. The screen turns red and everything will slow down, except for the child of light. This is useful to escape enemies and bullets. To disengage warp speed, tap the C key again. When in warp speed, the power gauge will be drained very quickly.

MusumeShoot 'em up24.2 MBClick here to download

Lyrical Nanoha is an alright vertical shooter which feels more like a technical demo rather than anything else, featuring only two enemy sprites and less than five minutes worth of gameplay. The 7-Zip program might be required to unpack the files.
