Made in Wired is a WarioWare-type game created by Junpei Isshiki, in which players are given only a few seconds to achieve the objective shown before the start of each stage. Mosts of the tasks are derived from basic and classic shooters, though there are some odd challenges included as well.

Mode 1 has the additional feature of a boss encounter in every tenth stage. Use the cursor keys to move your ship, and press the Z key to shoot. The type of weapon your ship is equipped with for a particular challenge is indicated at the bottom right of the screen.

Holding down the primary shot button will allow you to fire rapidly. A small target indicating your hit point will be shown as well when you have the shot button depressed.

Magical Cannon Girl is a vertical shooter developed by KIT Station which features decent 3D graphics and two playable levels in this trial version. Your character has a very basic shot which can be upgraded by collecting red gems, though bosses do take a while to beat especially when your weapons are only capable of inflicting minimal damage.

A life gauge indicates her current health, and the number of hits an enemy can take before going down is shown with a counter that appears every time a bullet connects.

Hold the Z key to shoot, and tap the S key to absorb coins or collectibles. The X and A keys can be used to turn your character around. The special beam will begin to charge when the S key is depressed for a prolonged period.

Can be rather taxing to play at times due to the ineffectiveness of power-up items. The game is also slightly buggy when all options are turned on.

Maria and a Red Bloom is an alright vertical shooter with scrolling 3D backgrounds but lackluster sprite designs. Your character is able to swap equipped spells at the touch of a button, though it's recommended that you configure the controls to match your preferences before starting a game since the default key mappings are rather haphazard. Your secondary attack can be activated in spurts as indicated by a blue gauge on the bottom right of the screen. Demo features two stages only.

Marsh

Marsh is another vertical-scrolling shooter created by the developer of EX -extra-, featuring three ships with different weapon configurations to choose from and five levels to play in total. In addition to your primary and secondary weapons, there is also a special attack that can be deployed at any time, provided that you have at least one bomb counter in the blue bar at the bottom of the window.

The type of bomb launched is dependent on your current energy gauge, which can be increased by destroying enemy ships over time. A destructive laser beam is fired if the energy indicator is maxed out, else your ship will drop a carpet bomb that destroys all other harmful projectiles on screen for a couple of seconds.

Maya Kai is a freeware horizontal shooter that features two playable characters and four levels to beat. Both characters have their own set of special abilities, ranging from the usual clear screen spell to the special bullet deflection power. Using any of these skills will cost you purple gems, deducted from your gem count shown at the top left corner of the screen. Gems are collected automatically if you refrain from shooting for a fraction of a second.

The game offers unlimited continues and a configurable difficulty setting as well, in addition to a couple of other tweaks which you can find inside the options menu. May require the use of AppLocale to run.

Kenta Cho, ABA GamesShoot 'em up8.62 MBClick here to download

Mazer Mayhem is an XNA-only arena shooter by Kenta Cho, in which the player is given control of a tank as they attempt to destroy as many orange balls as possible while collecting green objects. The action takes place in a large enclosed area, and some traveling is required to search for more enemies.

The W, A, S and D keys can be used to move your ship. Cursor keys have a similar effect. Press the X key to simultaneously execute the dash move, launch a grenade and shoot. Hold the Z or C key to turn your craft around. This build also provides support for the Xbox360 controller.

Players can store a maximum of a hundred green items at any time, with a counter shown at the bottom right of the screen. When entering hyper mode by pressing both buttons, this count will deplete at a very quick rate. Replenish it by finding and destroying more balls.

To play Mazer Mayhem, simply install Visual C 2005 Express Edition, its update, and XNA Game Studio 2.0. Then click on Mm-Windows-0-1.ccgame twice to unpack the game.

Although it features simple graphics, Medicalat does have an interesting weapon system. And the protagonist is a nurse!

Your option item is actually a syringe that you can use to absorb bullets as well as enemies. The energy you accumulate can then be used to blast away the bigger bosses.
