|Ganbare Natsuki-san||Alpha Secret Base||Platformer||9.41 MB||Click here to download|
Ganbare Natsuki-san is an excellent puzzle platformer by Alpha Secret Base, borrowing a few elements from an obscure PSX game called Umihara Kawase Shun. The rope has been replaced with a metal gadget, able to extend and grab on to walls and ceilings.
Press the Z key to activate it, and use the directional keys to move around while holding down the same button. Jump using the X key, and tap the C key to bring up the pause window. Selecting the third option from the main menu will take you to the tutorial, complete with demonstration regarding controls and advanced techniques.
The objective of the game is to collect all food items, while avoiding water and contact with spikes. It's entirely possible to finish all fifty levels in one sitting. Very addictive and highly recommended.
|Generic||Hempuli, Arvi Teikari||Platformer||1.21 MB||Click here to download|
G-e-n-e-r-i-c is another experimental project with a novel gameplay element, created by the developer of Flickerstrings and Jump on Mushrooms: The Game. The objective here is to collect gems, coins and money bags so that you'd have enough points to proceed to the next level. Enemies can be stomped on to gain extra jump height, keys can be collected to unlock doors, and you can bash special blocks with your head for a special surprise.
|Gigadeep||Peposoft||Platformer||206 MB||Click here to download|
Gigadeep is a new 2D platformer from the developer of Houkaimura (Breaking Town) and MinishoterRS, created in the style of Capcom's Mega Man Zero series. Peposoft's game features eight standard levels (plus two side stages), upgrades that can be purchased from the shop, boss abilities to add to your repertoire of skills, and unlockable characters that play differently from one another.
Though this collaborative project looks incredibly impressive for a freeware release, there are a couple of glitches and game-breaking bugs here that could seriously ruin your enjoyment of it. Playing it on easy doesn't help that much either, since death is instantaneous every time you accidentally touch a row of spikes (you can use the anchor shot ability to break them though).
The jump upgrade should be the first thing you purchase from the shop, and more abilities can be unlocked by collecting the secret research notes that you find throughout your mission. If you receive a pxPlay.mfx error while trying to start a game, placing a msvcr71.dll in your Windows/System folder should solve that particular problem for you.
|Glum Buster ||Justin Leingang||Platformer||12.8 MB||Click here to download|
Glum Buster is a puzzle adventure game which took CosMind four years to create with the Game Maker engine. Comparisons to Seiklus are likely, since both share more than a couple of similarities in terms of sparseness in storytelling efforts and a heavy emphasis on exploration.
The solutions to most puzzles are usually contained in the same room, although some locations may span several screens long and wide. Besides using the cursor keys for movement, you would need to interact with objects scattered around the environment quite frequently using either or both mouse buttons. Holding the left mouse button fires a red shot at whatever it is that you're pointing at, while pressing the right mouse button allows you to activate certain objects or attract them towards you.
|Goble||Nifflas||Platformer||0.32 MB||Click here to download|
Goble is another unfinished effort by Nifflas, as demonstrated by the lack of sound and scarcity of screens. Press the shift key to jump. The save block does not work.
|GoldenEye 2D||Perfect Run||Platformer||1.81 MB||Click here to download|
GoldenEye 2D is a Game Boy-style remake of GoldenEye for the Nintendo 64. This version features only one level but includes several bosses and five different weapons which can be acquired by taking out enemies.
Press the enter key to access the current level objectives. Tap the X key rapidly to shoot, or use the Z key to jump.
|Goonies 20th Anniversary, The|
- Windows, Mac, Linux
|Brain Games||Platformer||11.6 MB||Click here to download|
The Goonies 20th Anniversary is an excellent remake of the console classic by Retro Remakes competition veterans. Your quest involves saving a group of local kids trapped in an underground cave, and perhaps stealing a bit of loot while you're at it. You can punch at the enemies to protect yourself and collect vitality drinks to restore health.
Like most platformers, there are a number of keys to collect in each stage though your character can only carry one at any time. A save function can be accessed from the main menu by pressing the k and control key at the same time. OSX and Linux versions are available as well.

|Jason Rohrer||Platformer||0.50 MB||Click here to download|
Gravitation is a new game by Jason Rohrer, also the developer of Passage and Cultivation. Use the cursor keys to move, and press the space key to jump. Similar to Jason's previous release, very little instructions are provided and it's up to the player to figure out gameplay mechanics from discovery through trial and error.
The F key can be used to switch between full screen and windowed mode. Press the Q key to quit at any time. The creator's statement can be found on the same download page.
|Gravortex||Beau Blyth, Teknogames||Platformer||1.96 MB||Click here to download|
Gravortex is a short platformer by Beau Blyth consisting of twenty levels, an obvious nod to Valve's Portal with it's mix of puzzle elements requiring the use of gravity vortexes to solve.
Left click to place an entry portal, then right click to place an exit vortex. Press the space key to reset portal placements. Use the W, A, S and D keys for character movement.
