Rakker and the Sinking Cities

Rakker and the Sinking Cities is a decent little platformer in the style of Alex Adventure, set in an age where rabbits walk instead of hop and ladders were never invented. The protagonist can stomp on enemies to knock them out, though collision hit detection is a bit off and could easily spell the end for our furry friend if you're not careful.

Use the Z key to jump, and push the up arrow key to activate switches. Press the ALT and F4 function key to exit the game at any time. There are only three short stages to play.

Raptor 2 is a platformer which features a velociraptor as the protagonist of the story, on a mission to acquire parts for a machine that will destroy a meteorite hurtling towards Earth.

Attacks are mapped to both space and left control keys. Drinking water restores health. Apparently raptors also have the ability to climb poles and scale walls, though not without some difficulty during certain sections in the game.

RIAH is a decent but short platformer with most of its gameplay elements originating from the Castlevania series. Press the Z key to attack, hold the X key to jump or use the C key to swap weapons. Choose from axes, knives, hammers and spinning discs.

The double jump skill is available by tapping the X button twice, and an editor is included as well to facilitate user creations.

Rocket Mairo is a 2D platformer that features a plumber with an attitude, who is armed with a bazooka that can be used to execute rocket jumps. There's only one short level to play, and the game exits back to the desktop automatically after you've beaten the end stage boss.

Rockman 7-FC

Rockman 7-FC is a remake of the similarly-titled SNES release with a style that closely resembles the prequels instead of an updated look made popular by the portable console versions. Tap the X key rapidly to shoot, hold the same button to charge up for a special attack, and press the Z key to jump. Hold the down cursor key and the jump button at the same time to slide.

Use the Q key to access your inventory and swap abilities, or press the R key to reset back to the introductory screen at any time. Abilities can be switched using the A and S keys as well. Players start out with Rush Coil, the robotic dog which can be called upon to launch you higher than your normal jumps.

The configuration file can be used to change window size. Press the print screen button on the keyboard to capture a screenshot at any time, which is then saved as a new bitmap file in the game folder automatically. This feature can be very useful when typing in your password to resume your progress.

NifflasPlatformer9.05 MBClick here to download

Roll is another short effort by Nifflas, though this one only requires the use of two keys to control. The game involves moving a ball from the top of the screen to the bottom, by navigating a maze of ledges carefully while landing on bonus tiles for extra points. Forgettable, even with an option to turn on enhanced physics.
