Sumotori Dreams
Peter SoteszAction/Arcade0.17 MBClick here to download

In Sumotori Dreams, each bout starts when both players touch the ground with their hands and ends when a player falls to the ground or steps outside the circle. A cube of the winner's color is then thrown in to signal the end of a round.

To win a game you need to have two points more than your opponent, and a total of at least five. Use the enter or backspace key to push, or press the arrow keys to move your character around the circle and change the camera angle view. Hold the down arrow key to touch the ground. A hidden mode can be unlocked during the main menu display by breaking one of the walls on the far right.

Untitled Story, An

An Untitled Story is a shareware platformer which was recently released as freeware by Matt Thorson, developer of the popular but frustratingly hard Jumper series. The game world is expansive but players with anything less than incredible reflexes would find it difficult to progress very far, since most of the challenges revolve around precision jumps and a knack for perfect timing.

Switching between full screen and windowed mode is only possible once a new profile has been created. Press the space key to bring up a pause menu, then choose the options tab to find this well-hidden feature.

Unblade Senki

Unblade (Record of War) is a 2D platformer in which you play as a frog carrying an indestructible umbrella, on a quest to find a kidnapped princess and rescue her from the clutches of an evil minion. Along the way you can collect power-up items that could be used to destroy floors or walls, replenish health, bombs that help you jump higher, and even the occasional invincibility spell or two to help you through a tricky section in a level.

There are seven stages to play through in total. You may have to rename the executable files to get the game working on PCs that do not have native Japanese text support installed.

Torque is a new arena shooter by the developer of Frozzd and the Karoshi series, where players assume control of a rotating ship engaged in an intergalactic war with a nameless alien race. Use the cursor keys to move, hold the Z key to concentrate your fire in one direction, and press the space key to pause. The F4 function key can be used to switch between windowed and full screen mode.

Note that the multiplier resets back to one whenever you lose a ship.

The Hive

In The Hive you play as Alex Rig, a reporter who was investigating a missing persons case when he discovers a heavily-fortified research facility while snooping around for clues. Similar to Iji, Prince of Persia and Flashback, Alex will be doing a lot of climbing up platforms and crawling through air vents to find ammunition or health-replenishing items that he can keep in his inventory for later use.

The taser he carries is effective enough against guards at close range, but only rifles and shotguns can protect him from being overwhelmed by chasing mutants that are more resilient to bullet damage. Both the protagonist's health and his weapons can be upgraded in small increments, provided that you manage to locate the special items required to level up their stats.

The controls might feel clunky and unresponsive at first, but if you give the game a chance to impress it could even suprise you with its high production values in just about every other area. This 2D platformer was created by Vanni del Moral as his entry for submission to the YoYo Games' 'Discovery' competition.

Soup ver 0.9 is a production loosely based on LSD, a trippy dream recollection available only on the Playstation console. Choose the first option to play in full screen mode. A different part of the adventure is unlocked for each new game attempted by the player.

Hold the left shift key to look around, and touch a wall to exit any room. Describing the game any further is equivalent to providing possible spoilers.

Acidbomb
Vertigo Games, Mr. ChubigansPuzzle13.2 MBClick here to download

Ac!dbomb is the latest release from Mr. Chubigans, developer of Vivid Conceptions and Sandbox of God. The game is basically about defusing bombs, in a race against time to uncover the pistons hidden behind the tiles.

Beams of light can be used to reveal the number of pistons underneath each line of tiles. Just like Minesweeper, you can left click to mark a tile as safe or right click to designate one as a piston. The number of pistons in each level is displayed on the top right of the screen.

After releasing Lure of the Temptress, Revolution decided to explore a completely different setting with its second adventure game. A bleak vision of the future was imagined, where mind control and medical science combined forces to repress the populace. Beneath a Steel Sky was made available as a free download in August 2003, with the consent and full blessings from the original development studio.

A Game with a Kitty 2: Darkside Adventures
BerniePlatformer14.7 MBClick here to download

In A Game with a Kitty 2: Darkside Adventures, you take on the role of an Arch-Chancellor on a quest to retrieve the lost crown, which equates to plenty of jumping and throwing stuff around.

The protagonist of the story can use the stars collected as weapons, but his inventory capacity will only allow up to thirty of them to be stuffed into his deep pockets. Special skills are awarded for surviving boss encounters, though certain jumps are pretty difficult to execute properly. The game consists of only four major locations in total, with an average of four to five short levels assigned to each.

There are several tough puzzles to figure out but nothing too perplexing with a bit of thought. Needless to say, a recommended download for fans of classic NES titles especially the Mario series.
