 | L' Abbaye des Morts
| Locomalito | Platformer | 1.39 MB | Click here to download |
|---|
L' Abbaye des Morts (The Abbey of the Dead) is another excellent game from the creator of Hydorah and 8-Bit Killer, a 2D platformer that draws inspiration from classics such as Manic Miner and Jet Set Willy. Here you play as Jean Raymond, a preacher who escapes to an abandoned church after being chased by a group of crusaders. Following the instructions on parchments left behind by past occupants of the building, Jean must seek out and collect the twelve cathar crosses before he can escape from his pursuers.
Each of the twenty-three rooms have a different name to label the location, and some of the short descriptive text may even provide clues on how to solve a puzzle or two. Jean does not carry a weapon nor will he acquire one during his adventure, and the cursor keys are the only controls you ever need to use in this game from start to end.
L' Abbaye des Morts can be beaten in a single afternoon, although it is unlikely that you will complete the quest on your first try.

 | Samurai Railroad Mansion
| Lurk | Action/Arcade | 19.1 MB | Click here to download (external link) |
|---|
Samurai Railroad Mansion is an action game developed by Lurk using Mark Overmars' Game Maker engine, and has more than a passing resemblance to Nintendo's light gun classic Hogan's Alley. A simple tutorial shown before the start of each level explains the type of enemies a player will encounter, though the advice on offer can be rather vague at times.
Hold the left or right cursor key before pressing the attack button to swing your blade in either directions. Your samurai's face will appear above the section in which he will strike at when the Z key is held. Press the F4 function key to switch between full screen and windowed mode.
Honor is lost when you hit a maiden or an opponent who has submitted to you, but can be restored by one rank for every ten thousand points you acquire. Timing is a crucial element in this game, as certain enemies can only be attacked after a few seconds, while others have to be sliced at the moment they appear on screen. There are only eight stages to play in total.

In Retrospec's Wizball remake, players have to shoot at enemies to collect red, green and blue paint. Grab green pearls to trade for firepower upgrades, acquire complete control over the main character's movements and also to summon Catellite. Hold down the fire button to guide Cat around the landscape, as paint droplets can only be collected by your spherical companion.
The config.txt file can be edited to enable full screen mode.

Picture Logic is a browser version of the popular paint by numbers game, which comes with over two hundred puzzles to solve and a success rate tagged to each as an indicator of its difficulty. Isomura Kai's implementation of Picross features double clicking for marking empty squares, an option that is absent from Armor Picross 2 and TylerK's Picross. An English tutorial is also included to assist beginners in learning the basics of solving puzzles.

|---|
Yahtzee continues to impress with 1213 Episode 2, a platformer made using the AGS engine. Our clueless protagonist can now be made to run by holding down the shift key, and the environment is no longer limited to a grayish shade.
There is some backtracking as 1213 can only carry one item at any moment, but fortunately less time is required to travel from place to place thanks to his newfound ability.

 | Solar Plexus
| Joakim Sandberg | Platformer | 11.8 MB | Click here to download |
|---|
Solar Plexus is a puzzle platformer created by the developer of the Noitu Love series, where you are in control of a female protagonist sent to investigate the sudden communication silence from a certain space colony. Most of the challenges in the game require the player to manipulate blocks using the mouse and navigate around obstacles placed deliberately to hinder their progress forward.
Weapon ammo is limited to just fifty shells as well, but you can replenish this stock by left-clicking on ammunition blocks resting somewhere in most levels. Some doors will only open after you've placed purple blocks in specially marked areas, while other locations are only accessible by creating your own platforms with the blocks.
This is an unfinished version of the full game, containing nine levels to play in total. Joakim has no plans to continue developing it, and is considering the project an abandoned one.

 | Dyson - Windows, Linux
| Alex May | Strategy | 26.4 MB | Click here to download |
|---|
Dyson is a real-time strategy game in which you must take control of an entire asteroid belt. You start as a single seedling that produces a tree on your starting asteroid. Your tree in turn produces new and unique seedlings which can be used to conquer other asteroids. However, the astro belt features up to ten AI opponents that provide fierce resistance and have their own drive for conquest. To defeat them you have to explore the strategic possibilites of the game. Eventually you can build up very large armies of 400 or more seedlings and witness some epic battles. With the exception of the music and sounds, and the font, almost all of the game content is generated procedurally.
An in-game tutorial is included to teach you the basics. The page up, page down, and cursor keys can be used to control the camera if you don't have a mouse wheel.
Dyson is created by Alex May and Rudolf Kremers, with music and sound by Brian Grainger. The game requires the .NET 2.0 Framework to run.

 | Holdover (mature content, nudity) | Fox Eye | Platformer | 0.71 MB | Click here to download |
|---|
Holdover is a puzzle platformer in the style of the old Metroid series, where you are in control of a girl named Marie who had just woken up from a deep slumber inside an abandoned research complex. A holographic image of Marie's father informs her that she was involved in an accident many years ago, and had to be kept inside a medical treatment capsule for some time so that her organs could be regenerated by scientific means. After listening to her father's advice, she sets out to explore the complex and recover her motor skills which were impaired by her long sleep in the life chamber.
The research facility is a labyrinth of corridors, platforms and underwater sections, presumably caused by flooding in the lower levels of the building. Since you can't swim nor jump very high at the start of the game, the time in which you spent underwater will be limited to how long you can hold your breath. This is indicated by the bubble shown at the top left part of the screen, and Marie will drown when this counter reaches zero. Collecting enough blue hearts, and the ability to hold her breath underwater will improve.
Players can save their progress at any time by using the quick save slot, while maps and hints in Japanese can be accessed by clicking on the capture button at the official site. To download the game, just click on the blue button at the upper right part of the web page and a link to the zip file will appear. Take note that Holdover does have some blood and nudity in it.
