Chalk
Joakim SandbergAction/Arcade3.85 MBClick here to download

Chalk is a unique action game by Joakim Sandberg which places emphasis on drawing to solve problems that the player will face in each of the six levels.

The right mouse button controls movement, while the left is used to draw lines. Only one line of a certain length can be on screen at any time, determined by a gauge shown at the top of the window display.

Geometric shapes can be removed by drawing lines across each of the green dots on them. Enemies are destroyed by drawing a line from a purple bullet to a ship. Blue shapes can be picked up and thrown around.

Beating all six levels with A ratings unlocks the endurance challenge.

In Titanion, the ship you pilot has a capture beam that can be used to coax enemy craft to your side. These deserters will form a line formation and act as options, increasing your firepower in the process.

There is a standard level progression implemented, with all captured enemies retained from one stage to the next.

Swarm Racer is another Ludum Dare competition entry by lexaloffle, creator of Zen Puzzle Garden and Neko Puzzle. The objective of the game is to guide a swarm of bugs to collect all gems in each level. This is achieved by using the cursor keys for directional movement and the Z or X key to change bug formation.

Get all gems before the time limit expires to progress. Certain tiles have different characteristics, all conveniently outlined with sparse but fairly complete instructions found in the main menu.

Metanet SoftwarePlatformer1.26 MBClick here to download

N is a platformer featuring a ninja with the ability to climb or slide down walls and run at amazing speed. The basic objective is to survive five rooms filled with traps and danger in each episode, with a different maze design introduced in every level to challenge the player's reflexes and quick thinking.

Collecting a piece of gold increases the allowable episode completion time by two seconds. Progress is automatically saved when an episode is completed. Tutorials and help sections are supplied to assist beginners, plus a healthy and active community continues to provide a continous supply of new content and custom creations.

Arachnos

Arachnos is an effort by BootanSoft that is reminiscent of arcade shmups from the early 80's. I could not get this to work full screen, but changing to a lower desktop resolution helps. Controls are shown under the configuration menu. Set BLT scale to double for a larger game display window.

The graphics may appear to be bland but does improve after the second level. Several weapons most commonly found in Konami's classic shooters make their appearance here, such as ripple lasers and options to name but two. Your ship does not explode immediately when hit, allowing options to be recovered after the loss of a life.

End level bosses have several attack patterns, guaranteed to test your bullet dodging skills. The asteroids in stage two can actually be used as a temporary shield during the boss battle, assuming that you don't crash into any of them.

Shoot First
Beau Blyth, TeknogamesAction/Arcade3.60 MBClick here to download

Shoot First is an action game with roguelike elements, featuring procedurally generated levels, an automap system, two-player co-op mode, an online high score table, and even AI-controlled companions to help you out during heated gunfights with denizens of the dungeon. Your character can only carry one weapon at a time, and three other equipment that you acquire during your adventure. Weapons are upgraded automatically after a prolonged period of use, but the bonuses don't carry over when you switch to another gun.

Like any roguelike, your objective here is to descend the staircase that leads to the next level. Sometimes the staircase is blocked by a locked door, so you must first find the yellow key hidden somewhere in the dungeon before proceeding to the exit.

Red potions can be quaffed to restore a tiny bit of health, and rescuing damsels in distress also have the same effect on your hero. There's no button to drop an item in your inventory, but you can swap them out when the inventory slots are full by picking up an object on the ground.

Fish Face
Beau Blyth, TeknogamesAction/Arcade3.36 MBClick here to download

Fish Face is a one-button arcade game with three levels to play, each taking roughly five to ten minutes to complete. Here you play as a fish that uses its buoyancy to move in and out of the water, avoiding walls or enemies that will hurt our aquatic friend on impact.

Red loops can be collected for points, while the blue ones act as checkpoint locations that you can return to when your fish crashes into a solid object.

OddbobShoot 'em up5.84 MBClick here to download

Warning: Contains strong language and flashing images which may cause photosensitive epileptic seizures.

War Bus is a frantic arena shooter by Oddbob that presents the player with a choice: shoot or be shot. With just the one life at your disposal and the odds stacked against you both in the number of enemies and with the eye-popping visuals, you'll need all your wits to survive.

Battle double decker busses, diggers and handbags unleashed by the alien hordes, all armed to the teeth with laser beams and raging with beastly intent of killing the player. Invoke the spirit of light entertainment by shooting sad clouds to clear the arena and earn yourself some space to breathe.

Use the cursor keys to move, and hold the Z key to shoot. Bullets and laser beams should be avoided at all costs. Destroy a cloud at the right time to activate the Brucey bonus.

Specter Spelunker Shrinks is a Unity-based platformer in which you overcome obstacles and challenges by growing or shrinking the size of the main character. There are regular checkpoints scattered around the level to save your progress from time to time, although players won't be utilizing them too much as the entire adventure can be completed in half an hour or less.
