Think Under Defeat, but with 2D sprites. Demolition Gunner: In Search and Destroy was originally developed for a three minute gameplay competition, then turned into a complete production featuring seven stages and obligatory boss encounters.
These battles last only twenty seconds each, so there won’t be much of a struggle beating them assuming that you’re good at dodging an insane number of bullets. Press the Z key to shoot, or hold the X key for a few seconds before releasing the button to launch a napalm bomb. Click on the first link after the title to download.

WarMachine Overload is a freeware shmup developed by DHC, featuring nicely drawn 2D sprites and backgrounds.
Collect blue power-ups to charge your beam weapon and activate it by pressing the X key. Use the left shift key to enable the slow motion mode. Option positions can be configured from the main menu and selected in-game using the C key.

Urban Uprising: Dark New World is considered to be a sequel to DHC’s previous release with the same title. Sporting an upgrade system similar to Konami’s Gradius series, the vertical shooter can be difficult to play without a strategy or two.
Fortunately, shooter veterans should find no problems adapting to the shift of perspective. Activating the shield is usually the first priority. It’s also useful to have another protective barrier ready at hand even when one is already in place, since bosses could take some time to defeat.
Press the Z key to shoot, tap the X key to enable the power-up of your choice and hold the C key to lock the options’ shot direction. One of the best offerings from this particular company.

Tank Domination is the latest release from DHC, an acclaimed Japanese freeware shmup developer. As the title suggests, your vehicle can now move around and aim freely instead of being limited to one vertical direction. Hold the Z key to lock your aim and shoot at the same time.
Energy will only be replenished when all enemies shown on radar as red dots are destroyed. Your tank will explode with only one hit but three lives are given at the start of each game.
The version available for download features six short stages but does include four different difficulty levels to choose from. Simplicity equals fun.
